Training Manuals required by SOLAS

STCW requires that the Shipowner / Operator must comply with certain manning principles and ensure that the level of competence of those operating their vessels meet minimum standards.  To achieve this certain manuals must be onboard to allow ship's personnel the availability of study material, and / or documentation, to ensure a full understanding on the equipment in their charge.  This material should be ship specific, in other words appropriate to the equipment which is actually onboard. In a time of crisis, the crew must be able to operate all safety equipment with confidence. This is only achieved through training using proper technical data which is easily understood. This is extremely important when considering multinational crews.
