Profile
John sailed for 16 years in the
Merchant Service, moving through the ranks to Master - primarily on chemical
tankers.
He is a Canadian Registered Safety
Professional (CRSP) and holds a BC Instructor Diploma in addition to other
qualifications.
Formerly Manager of the BC Fire and Safety
Training Centre at Maple Ridge from 1987 to 1997, he left to form a marine
consulting company - John Lewis and Associates.
In addition to a strong background in training, he acts as a safety and risk
management consultant.
He has developed and delivered marine
shipboard fire fighting courses for the Alaska State Fire Services Training
Centre in Juneau, Alaska, British Columbia and Toronto Fire Services and
presented to a number organizations including:
- Maritime Institute of
Technology and Graduate Studies (MITAGS), Maryland Fire & Rescue Training
Institute Seminar on "Port and Marina Emergencies";
- Maritime Fire and Safety

Greenwich Marine Services
Greenwich Marine Services was founded in 1997 by
Capt. Dickinson.
Rene has been
in the marine industry for the past 30 years mainly in the coastal trade
with an extensive tug and towing background. He
has also spent a number of years working a variety of vessels including oil
tankers, offshore supply ships and survey vessels.
He presently
carries out many of the draft surveys and superintendency work for a number
of barging and deep-sea operations.
After many years on the Pacific West Coast René
expanded his work to the Caribbean, the Orient and West Central Africa and
is now using his experience to offer a wide variety of services to the
Shipping Industry locally and overseas. The Greenwich Marine Team are all
certified ship Masters with many years experience at sea and in port working
in the Marine Surveying field.
Rene hold a current Canadian Master Home Trade
Certificate with Oil Tanker Endorsements.
